A few of our dedicated therapists
Heteronormative society has struggled to understand the concerns and perpective of an LGBTQ individual. What does it look like to find love? Struggle in a same sex relationship? Feel shame for who you are? To feel the pressure to have it all together, yet feel like you’ll fall apart at a moments notice. The secrets, the passive aggressive behavior or “don’t ask, don’t tell” treatment from family and close friends can cause angst and heartbreak. The Truism Center’s Safe Space is a place to get away from all of that and feel supported.

What is Safe Space Therapy?

Safe Space Therapy is a place where you can feel:

  • Safe from condemnation
  • Safe from someone trying to change you
  • Safe from someone trying to preach
  • Safe from being misunderstood
  • Safe to talk about your unique journey

Unconditional Positive Regard

Even though were seeing more examples of queer people in the media and even government that does not mean that everyone in your life may understand you as a part of the LGBTQ+ community.

Today, many people experience a confusing blend of acceptance, tolerance and condemnation. You may experience anger and sadness about the injustice you experience, or feel like you can’t just be you. Your greatest struggles may not be caused by being gay, but the inability to genuinely relate to those around you and question the quality of your connection.

At the Truism Center, our staff supports and employs LGBTQ+ therapists who will support your along the way.  Feeling supported gives you an outlet to talk about sensitive issues with a therapist who will empathize with your unique circumstances.

The Truism Center offers a space for you—a safe zone where LGBT people can share what they are going through without judgement.
