Real Change Can Be Difficult – But Worth It
I understand what it is like to struggle and to wonder if the problems you are facing can ever be overcome – and I know, first-hand, that “Yes they can!” Maybe you’ve tried therapy before and nothing really changed, or you’re not really sure what change would even look like. I have found that by working in individual counseling, we can start to understand why we react and think the way we do; it can be from past trauma or from an accumulation of life events, but I truly believe when provided a nonjudgmental, understanding, and safe place, it is very possible to defeat these destructive thought patterns and behaviors we’ve obtained. Virtually anything you face can be dealt with and overcome. Yet I understand too, the hard work, vulnerability, and resilience that is needed to jump these hurdles and overcome these struggles. No matter what your background or experience, I’ll step alongside you to discover where you currently stand, and what you are facing, and help you develop a pathway to a stronger, brighter future. No Judgment
My top priority as I have worked in various areas of specialty is to provide a safe and non-judgmental environment for each of my clients as they develop and progress toward their goals. I have a diverse clinical background, with 20 plus years in the medical field; for the last 10 years, I’ve been working in the mental health field, starting as an Activity Therapist, then as a Case Manager and Therapist. I obtained my Master’s degree in my later years, and throughout these years I have obtained a wealth of knowledge – not only an educational experience but also a life experience that has helped me understand struggles and life’s obstacles. I have worked with adolescents, and adults, and extensively with older adults. I’m experienced working with clients who suffer from anxiety, depression, addictions, co-occurring disorders, anger issues, suicidal ideations, trauma, personality disorders, and others. Some settings I have worked in are Inpatient psychiatric/addictions, outpatient therapy – serving people who have been court-ordered and on probation, medication-assisted treatment, sobriety court women’s group therapy, and people with varying mental health disorders. I am a Certified Advanced Drug and Alcohol Counselor (CAADC) and a Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist (CTRS). I don’t believe in the concept of one size fits all when it comes to therapy. I am person-centered and tailor my therapy around your specific needs. I utilize CBT, person-centered therapy, elements of DBT, coping skills development, Solution focused therapy, strength-based, motivational interviewing, narrative and psychodynamic, just to name a few.Similar Therapists
