“I believe that telling our stories, first to ourselves and then to one another and the world, is a revolutionary act. It is an act that can be met with hostility, exclusion, and violence. It can also lead to love, understanding, transcendence, and community. I hope that my being real with you will help empower you to step into who you are and encourage you to share yourself with those around you.” —Janet Mock, writer, TV host, and transgender activist
Do you fit in?
Your silent thoughts to yourself question whether others really understand you. It’s tough because you’ve tried so hard to reach out and be friendly and even demonstrate care and compassion for others. Nevertheless, you wonder if that same care get’s directed back at you. Sometimes it feels like you don’t fit in. Do you have questions about whether this means that there is something wrong with you? Probably not! In life, striving to fit in can be an empty pursuit. What if you could switch that and really feel that you belonged instead of just fitting in.A different point of view
It feels like the majority of people in your life don’t quite understand your point of view. Sometimes it doesn’t come out right when you try to describe your own experiences. You end up feeling on the defense and often just shut down when this happens. Your other favorite coping mechanism might be to run away. You’re looking for other options.Happy with Me
Other’s may have poked you in the wrong way. They have not taken the time to understand and empathize where you’ve been. Therapy can be very helpful when you’re ready to look at yourself. You’ve been angry enough at those who have bruised you along the way and maybe now is the time to take a look at how you can heal and become a person that you’re proud of.Who’s agenda?
When I meet with clients, I’m extra sensitive to demonstrate that I have no agenda other than working to become an impartial sounding board to help you reflect and grow. Some of the best therapists have also been through all kinds of shit. Let’s get real together about life and I’ll offer you a safe space to be encouraged and challenged to grow.Similar Therapists
