About my work

You are the expert in your own life, understanding your uniqueness is a high priority of mine. I am here to learn about what makes you, you! This builds the foundation of our work together. I aim to work together to highlight your strengths to find peace in your mind, make progress towards your goals, and feel confident in the person you are becoming. I take a strength-based and person-centered approach, utilizing components from dialectical behavioral therapy, rational emotive behavioral therapy, play therapy, and motivational interviewing. I have experience working with women in a domestic violence relationship, foster/adoption care, and eating disorders.

Made for More

Being in a constant war with your mind and body can be all consuming. Controlling food intake, excessive monitoring your weight, and compulsory exercises can become your life. Avoidance and restricting unhealthy behaviors is only a temporary fix. Eating disorders are a very serious mental illness that can spiral out of control. I take a Health at Every Size® (HAES®) approach as absolutely everyone deserves quality, kind, and compassionate care. I’m passionate about overcoming disordered eating, negative self-image, body dysmorphia, low self-esteem, and overexercising. I am here to work with you to take back control, regain a life worth living, and work on eliminating food rules. I know you are made for so much more than living a life controlled by disordered behaviors and maladaptive coping skills. Together we can develop a more meaningful relationship with food and our bodies.

A Safe Space for Healing and Growth

I have been working with children for as long as I can remember from nannying, being a local babysitter for kiddos in the foster care system, having my own younger family members I adored and substitute teaching for all ages! I am a kid at heart, if they want to color, you can bet I want to color too! It is a privilege to earn kiddos trust and be let inside their inner world. I am here to advocate for your kiddo, support them, and give them a safe space where they know they will be seen, heard, and understood. When your child enters my office, I want them to know and feel that they are in a safe space.

We all have issues

Kids have their own unique set of problems, emotions, and feelings that they can’t always cope with alone. We do this through play and art therapy techniques. I believe in joining the kid, getting down on their level, and playing on the floor with them. This is much more than “just” playing but your kiddo might believe that all they do is play! In reality, the game of Uno was used to practice self-control, patience while waiting their turn, following directions, listening, and dealing with potentially losing a game.

Therapy Sucks

Therapy sucks. It’s hard. Being vulnerable and changing is scary. I strive to create a safe and compassionate space where clients feel heard, validated, and understood. I meet individuals where they are, without judgment, and support them through life’s challenges. I value each individual’s unique experience, background, and complexity, recognizing that their distinct perspectives and stories form the foundation of our work together. As a counselor, my primary goal is to walk alongside my clients as they heal, grow, and thrive.

I look forward to meeting you and partnering with you on this journey!
