Well Hello There!
Deciding to come to therapy is a huge step and I am glad that you are here. For some, the decision to come to therapy can feel scary, awkward, or embarrassing at first. For others it can feel easy, empowering, and healing. Whatever feelings you may have when you are thinking about coming to therapy, know that you will always be accepted. It is my goal to make you feel safe, seen, and heard. Life can throw curveballs at you and make you feel overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, or all of the above. Sometimes life could be going good, but it could be better and we just need someone to talk to about this. It is my sincere belief that no matter what is going on, whether it be big or small, you deserve to have someone that can listen to you without judgement. I am honored to be able to walk alongside you and meet you where you are at in life.
A Little About Me
Since you will be trusting me to know things about you and your life, I think it is only fair that I tell you a little about myself. I am mother to a wonderful little boy, a graduate student at Aquinas College, and a hardworking individual. My favorite food is sushi, I enjoy going to the beach during hot summer days, I love animals, and I am adopted from China. Now that you know a little bit about me, I hope you feel a bit more comfortable! I believe that asking your therapist questions from time to time about themselves is ok because it allows for connections, trust, and rapport building. Clients can be curious about who their therapist is as a person and that is ok!
My Approach to Therapy
I am a person that believes in every individual’s ability to grow and change. My therapeutic orientation is a person-centered approach with my clients, which means counseling sessions are client led. The client gets to have control over their therapeutic experience. My role is to provide a supportive, safe, empathetic and non judgemental environment.
I use evidence-based therapeutic techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy (SFT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). No matter what the therapeutic technique is, it will be tailored to meet your individual needs. I will be collaborating with you to make sure that we are going at the right pace for you.
