The Importance of Connection We have all felt a lack of connection at some time, whether it is lack of connection with others or lack of connection with ourselves. It is common for this feeling to become more profound at specific times or due to certain experiences. This may include experiences with trauma, foster
care and adoption, grief and loss, infertility, or unexpected circumstances or changes, such as divorce, challenges with children's development, illness/loss of a loved one, or changes in employment. My focus is in helping clients to develop a stronger sense of connection toward the goal of finding a new sense of meaning, acceptance, and fulfillment.
The Power of Relationship I believe strongly in the power of relationship and specialize in exploring an individual experiences with relationship to understand how they relate to the world and others. Using a relationship-oriented, strength-based, and solution-focused approach, I work to support clients in addressing challenges and setting goals for overcoming them within the context of their current relationships.
My practice is based in creating a therapeutic relationship that will allow me to support individuals, couples, children, parents, and families in overcoming the challenges they may be facing. This may include challenges that come with changes in personal or family dynamics, becoming parents, parenting, foster and adoptive parenting, or children development.
Professional Experience I hold both a master’s degree in Russian and East European Studies from University of Michigan and a master’s degree in social work from Wayne State University. Outside of behavioral health, my professional background includes work in the areas of foster care and adoption, child abuse and neglect, supporting at-risk youth and families, employment counseling, and immigration. This includes experience in all areas of international and domestic
adoption, including providing support to biological parents, adoptive parents, and adoptees. It also includes experience supporting couples in resolving grief and loss related to infertility, their journey to adoption, and in navigating issues they face in adoptive parenting. My background also includes working with individuals, children, parents, and families to provide support in coping with the loss of a loved one, divorce, blended families, children’s developmental
challenges, and issues resulting from their own or children’s experiences with grief, loss, or trauma.
Moving Forward As you consider your next step, I want you to know that I believe YOU have the strength to get through whatever brought you to this page. If you allow me the privilege, I will work to create a therapeutic relationship and safe space for connecting toward the common goal of helping you, your child, or family move forward in a more positive and satisfying way.
