"The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are." - Joseph Campbell

We all have to deal with challenging transitions in our lives from time to time. Some can be handled alone, some are best handled with the assistance from a professional. Individual therapy can ease these transitions and empower you to handle these challenging times as the best possible you. Whether you are dealing with a lifelong trauma that manifests as destructive behavior or struggling with a recent event, I provide a non-judgemental, compassionate approach. My process is practical, interactive and creative. I find that helping people uncover patterns of behavior that are no longer helpful can be life changing. I believe that good therapy should be directed at helping you feel balanced and whole. I know the courage it takes to make these big changes and I am humbled and privileged to hear your story.

Finding your strengths

I work primarily with adults who struggle with shame, addiction, life transitions and trauma. I am passionate about helping you see your strengths and reduce unnecessary suffering. With empathy, kindness, patience and hope, I offer practical guidance in your effort to get to your next life stage. I use a resiliency-based treatment approach combined with the Evidenced-Based Treatment modalities of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Mindfulness Based Practices. I often use Jungian psychology principles to guide my clients in becoming more conscious of the way their personal habits and traits may be limiting their ability to be more self-aware and whole.

Qualified DOT-SAP Evaluation

If you are looking for a Department of Transportation (DOT) qualified Substance Abuse Professional (SAP), I can walk with you through the SAP assessment, referral, treatment, education and testing process. While this process may seem overwhelming, I strive to communicate DOT guidelines clearly and assist you in your return to work process. I understand that your timely return to work is a priority. I personally communicate with corporate safety officers and employee representatives to make the return to work process successful for both employers and employees.

Michigan’s Health Professional Recovery Program Provider (HPRP)

The Health Professionals Recovery Program is a substance abuse assessment that is requested by licensing boards for health professionals who are facing substance use related charges. Sheila will walk you through the process of assessment and treatment.

A lifetime of experience

I am a Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor, Board Certified Professional Counselor and Substance Abuse Professional.
